Vibration Unit Converter

For single-frequency (sinusoidal) vibration, displacement, velocity and acceleration are linked through frequency. Enter one value and the frequency to see every unit at once.

These tools are for preliminary assessment and training. Decisions on critical equipment must be based on on-site measurement and expert review.

How to use it

  1. Enter the frequency in Hz or rpm (machine speed for 1X).

  2. Enter your measured value and choose its unit.

  3. All other units are calculated simultaneously.

Theory and formulas

For sinusoidal motion: v = 2πf · d and a = 2πf · v (peak values).

RMS = Peak / √2, Peak-to-peak = 2 · Peak. 1 g = 9.80665 m/s².

Real machine signals contain many frequencies, so this conversion is exact only for a single spectral component.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert mm/s RMS to g?

You need the frequency. Peak velocity = RMS × √2; peak acceleration (m/s²) = 2π·f·peak velocity (m/s); g = m/s² / 9.80665. For example, 4.5 mm/s RMS at 50 Hz ≈ 0.204 g peak.
